Can I have a civil ceremony at the beach?

In Greece, civil ceremonies must take place in locations officially approved by the local municipality. In Mykonos, civil weddings can only be held at the Mykonos Town Hall, a classic and historically significant building in Mykonos Town.

A legally recognized civil ceremony cannot take place directly on a public beach.

If your dream is a beach wedding, you may consider having a symbolic ceremony by the sea after completing the legal paperwork at an approved location. Many seaside venues, beach clubs, and private properties offer their spaces for symbolic ceremonies.

Some couples choose to handle the legal part of their marriage in their home country, avoiding the stress of paperwork, marriage licenses, and document translations. This allows them to enjoy a relaxed, personalized symbolic ceremony in Mykonos.
